Septic Pumping
Regular maintenance of a septic disposal system includes pumping the septic tank and inspection of the tank components which includes inlet and outlet baffles. We recommend that the septic tank be pumped out and inspected at least every 2 to 3 years, at a minimum. Our customers know the difference in choosing Felix Septic Service because our experience offers you the most capable technicians available. We maintain a customer database to notify you with a reminder card when regular service is due. We accommodate our customers with emergency response 24 hours/7 days a week.
Tank Baffles
There are two baffles in a septic tank, the first is Inlet baffle, designed to slow down the flow of sewerage coming into the septic tank and allows proper settling of fluids. The second is an Outlet baffle, designed to contain solids in the septic tank and allow only effluent fluid to pass into the leach field. It is critical that when septic tanks are pumped, an inspection of the baffles is done to ensure proper operation. Defective baffles can create serious damage to the leach field by allowing solids to pass through the septic tank into the leach field. This can cause a sludge and scum layer in the leaching field, resulting in leach field failure.
Tank Extensions
A tank extension or “riser” makes direct access to your system efficient. System problems and deficiencies can be readily diagnosed and this saves time and money. Once an extension is installed, regular pumping schedules do not disrupt your landscape by extensive digging to locate the tank. The riser sits at ground level, green in color to blend with the landscape. Felix can offer you recommendations on the various options required to modify your existing tank.
Tank Locating
If a tank is difficult to locate, the experts at Felix will locate it utilizing electronic sensors that are sent through the system. We have the ability to pinpoint the exact location of a septic tank.
Pump Stations
Maintenance of septic pump stations requires periodic cleaning and inspection of pump components. Pump stations send fluids from the septic tank to the leach field when gravity is unable to do the job. A pump station contains a sewage effluent pump, control panel, mercury floats and a high water alarm. Control floats are designed to send a predetermined dosage of effluent to the leach field for balanced absorption throughout the day. Should a pump station fail, effluent rises in the pump station tank, and signals an alarm. This cannot be ignored and indicates a failure with the pump or its components. When the alarm sounds, it is imperative to call Felix Septic immediately.
